Cinderella Play

For the first time in almost a decade, Des Arc High School Drama students will present a full-length version of Cinderella in two acts. The production date for the public is 7:00 P.M. on May 4th, 2018 at the Des Arc Elementary School cafeteria. Cinderella has been especially popular these past couple years due to Disney’s recent movie version of the story starring Cate Blanchett in 2015 as well as the touring Broadway production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella. The reason this story was selected for our students to bring to life can best be explained in a quote by actress Cate Blanchett:

“I love fairy tales in general --and Cinderella in particular-- because they deal with complex issues that children face. So many stories that children are told now make them feel like they’re heroes who can overcome anything and the world is always a perfect place. The timeless fairy tale of Cinderella lets children know that the world can be nasty and unforgiving, and you need a lot of courage and resilience to be successful. It’s a story where kindness is a superpower!”

Leads roles include Faith Gross as Cinderella, Colten Long as The Prince, Cheyenne Hambrick and Caroline Harris as the evil stepsisters, and Charlotte Miller as Cinderella’s terrible stepmother. If you would like to donate to Des Arc High School Drama Club in order to make this and all future productions as memorable as possible, please contact Ms. Fleck by calling the school or emailing fleckh@desarcschools.org. We hope to see you at our upcoming production of Cinderella, one of the most loved fairy tales of all time!
